National Patient Safety Alert: Philips ventilator, CPAP and BiPAP devices

Thursday, June 24, 2021

Two Field Safety Notices  have been issued by Philips on 14 June 2021, which report the potential risk of a number of positive airway pressure (PAP) devices used for treatment of sleep apnoea and respiratory failure.

A National Patient Safety Alert is available.

Both the Field Safety Notice and the MHRA information advises that patients should continue to use these products unless otherwise advised by their clinician and seek clinical advice on where an alternative device would be appropriate.
